Bertrand Competition

Definition

An oligopoly model in which firms compete on price simultaneously. With identical products and constant marginal cost, equilibrium price equals marginal cost — even with just two firms.

Example

Two gas stations across the street with identical fuel converge to marginal-cost pricing.
