Terms of Service

Welcome to Economisto. By using the Economisto app for iPhone and iPad or this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. The service

Economisto is an iPhone and iPad app that teaches economics in short daily lessons. It carries five courses — Principles of Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Personal Finance and Behavioral Economics — across 105 units and 912 lessons, with a 526-term dictionary, in English, Armenian, Spanish, Russian and German. The service includes the app, this website (economisto.app), and any related communications we send you: verification emails, completion certificates, and the reminders you opt into.

Every course and every lesson is free. Economisto Pro removes friction — it does not unlock content. See Section 6.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
• You can start learning without an account. Progress from that trial is held on a temporary anonymous account and carried over if you later sign up on the same device — so sign up before you switch devices or reinstall, or that progress is lost.
• Provide accurate information when you sign up. Don't impersonate someone else.
• You're responsible for activity on your account. Keep your password safe.
• One person, one account. Don't share login credentials.

3. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Use the service to break the law, harass anyone, or post abusive content.
• Choose a username, display name, bio, or avatar that is obscene, hateful, deceptive, or that impersonates another person or organization.
• Try to scrape, reverse-engineer, or attack the service.
• Abuse the leaderboard or the social features — fake accounts, automated activity, inflating your own numbers, or following and unfollowing at scale.
• Use the contact form for spam, ads, or unsolicited outreach.

We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules, with or without notice, depending on severity.

4. Other learners: following, blocking and reporting

The app has a leaderboard and a following system. If you sign up, your username, display name, avatar, country, bio, XP, stars and streak are visible to other signed-in learners, and so is who you follow and who follows you. Anonymous trial accounts are not visible to anyone.

You can block any account, which removes it from your view of the service, and you can report a profile you think breaks these rules. We review reports and may remove content, suspend accounts, or take no action, at our discretion. Reporting someone in bad faith is itself a violation of these terms.

If you'd rather not be visible at all, you can clear your public fields in Settings → Edit Profile, or delete your account.

5. Content & intellectual property

The lessons, course content, diagrams, design, code, mascot, and brand are owned by Economisto (or licensed to us). You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own learning. You don't get any rights to redistribute, republish, or build a competing product from the content.

Anything you contribute — your username, display name, bio, avatar, contact form messages — stays yours, but you grant us a licence to display and process it as needed to run the service, for example showing your username on the leaderboard.

Completion certificates are issued to you personally. They record that you finished a unit in Economisto; they are not an accredited academic qualification, and please don't alter one or present it as something it isn't.

6. Subscriptions & paid features

Economisto offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, Economisto Pro, available as a monthly or yearly plan. The current price and billing period are shown in the app before you purchase and on the App Store. Pro removes the heart timer, opens the full ledger, and lifts the cap on saved dictionary terms. Every course and lesson is free with or without it.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your Apple Account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription, and neither does deleting your Economisto account.

Purchases are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms in addition to these. Refunds are handled by Apple, not Economisto.

7. Cancellation & deletion

You can stop using Economisto at any time. To permanently delete your account, go to Settings → Edit Profile → Delete account in the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your profile, progress, leaderboard entry and social connections go with it. Cancel any active subscription separately, as described in Section 6. We may also terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Disclaimer

Economisto teaches frameworks for thinking about economics, money and decisions. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in a lesson is a recommendation to do anything in particular with your money. Don't use it as a substitute for a licensed professional. Course content is written for teaching and is simplified on purpose; figures and examples may age. The service is provided "as is" — we do our best but can't guarantee it'll be error-free or always available.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Economisto and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which may be zero if you're on a free account.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If the changes are material, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.
