Mundell-Fleming Model

Definition

An open-economy extension of IS-LM, with capital mobility. Yields the trilemma: a country can't have all three of fixed exchange rates, free capital flows, and independent monetary policy.

Example

Hong Kong picked fixed rates + free capital flows and gave up independent monetary policy.
