Currency Appreciation

Definition

An increase in the value of one currency relative to another under floating exchange rates. Makes exports more expensive abroad and imports cheaper at home.

Example

If the dollar appreciates from €1 = $1.10 to €1 = $1.00, US goods get pricier in Europe.
