Eine Formel, die vorgibt, wie eine Zentralbank ihren Leitzins als Reaktion auf Inflation und Produktionslücke setzen sollte. Dient oft als Maßstab für die tatsächliche Politik.

Beispiel

John Taylors ursprüngliche Regel: Zinssatz = 2 % + π + 0,5 × (π − 2 %) + 0,5 × Produktionslücke.
